The Plaza de las Cortes is a historic square in the center of the city between Carrera de San Jeronimo and Paseo del Prado. Former entrance point of the historic center, it is nowadays known mainly for the presence of the Palacio de las Cortes, which houses the Congress of Deputies.

A neoclassical mansion from 1850 whose main facade has a staircase that ascends to the portico flanked by two emblematic iron lions.

In the center of the square we find a statue from 1835 in honor of Miguel Cervantes. Miguel de Cervantes, from which we have interesting panoramic views of the Fountain of Neptune and the towers of the old monastery of San Jeronimo el Real.

Other buildings that stand out in the surroundings are the Groupama Seguros building, a former Plus Ultra building that has a clock with a carillon in the chamfer of the building, the Organización Médica Colegial de España and the Westin Palace and Villa Real hotels.
